I was inspired tonight to start this blog - why not? A place to write about me, the kids - share, vent and entertain (at least myself!). All thanks to my best friend. By the way, I'm pretty sure she is the only person who might actually read my blog.
So, today's fun and exciting events included my son's kindergarten class picnic - unfortunately held inside because of the neverending rain. I may investigate building an ark soon and begin collecting animals two by two.
Everyone had a wonderful time - for the most part. I learned something new about my daughter -she is not a big fan of the giant, colorful parachute. I also learned that if you wave that giant, colorful parachute up and down for several minutes with about 20 kids between 5-6 years old and a couple of other adults you get quite the upperbody workout and can actually work up a sweat. I think I should get to the gym more often!!!
Following the fun of climbing into and out of a hula-hoop (surprised I could do it), passing a ball over my head and under my legs, and hiding under a giant, colorful parachute while my daughter cried came the SUGAR...and lots of it. Who needs a healthy, well-balanced dinner when there are cookies, rice krispie treats, ice pops, ice cream and fruit punch to endulge in?
We were then off to the church to register for CCD in the fall. Mission accomplished (almost). Who'd have thought to bring a baptismal certificate as proof of baptism to the church a child was baptized AT...silly me. Now if only I could locate said baptismal certificate - I could call the church and request a copy...
This brings me to today's lesson in economics. Off to the store to buy sneakers for my son. How is it possible that a pair of sneakers for a six year old boy could cost between $37 and $54 ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? ARGH!!!!!! If his feet keep growing, I may have to take out a second mortgage!!!!!
A couple of hours later, here I sit in a quiet house, listening to the tv in the background and my children's occassional deep sighs while they sleep away up in their beds. I am constantly amazed by how many activities can be crammed into a few short hours. And these were just the highlights.
Tomorrow's goal - figure out why I can't get my computer to recognize my digital camera - apparently they had a feud because they are no longer speaking to one another and I may have to call in the professionals. Wish me luck!
